Dubai’s favorite PERIfic chicken place has some exciting news for its chicks and cockerels. They’ve introduced a number of new burgers, wrap and pitas on their menu, which has made my Nando’s favorites list insanely long. While it’s really hard for me to cheat on the classics like the peri peri espetada or the butterfly chicken breast, these succulent new dishes have already given me an excuse to visit more often. A very warm and cozy blogger tasting was held at the Nando’s in Novotel Suits al Barsha (which by the way I did not know was LICENSED…..Universe truly listens!! ) I spent an hour and a half devouring as much as I could from the new menu and oh boy…if you know me…you know I can never get enough. Walking out stuffed for 4 days I just cannot wait to visit again in October.
We started off with the welcome Portuguese salad consisting of rocket leaves, sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese. I added the mild peri peri as dressing and went quite well with it. A new addition is the Red pepper Dip loaded with red peppers and some tangy spicy secret ingredients which will sure have you lick the bowl clean in anticipation for your main course.
Next I got on to the task at hand and attacked mains. We had the new Espetada, Veg Burger (this was the hero!) Peri crusted Chicken Wings and Nandoca Choice Burger.
My favorite were the Chicken wings, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection with a mild char..Ahhhh loved it !!
The veggie burger is more delicious than ever, with the same delicious veg patti and salad that you love but now with an extra little chilli jam kick !!
Love the Arabian twist given to the Espetadas which are now served in a new garlic and parsley flavor along with fries which are also given a slight overhaul and sprinkled with a generous amount of the trademark peri peri salt. Mmmmm yes please !
Slightly low on preference but still a winner is the Nandoca Choice Burger, a whole butterfly chicken breast stuffed in a toasted garlic roll and topped with crunchy coleslaw. I would personally skip the coleslaw inside the burger and rather have it on the side, preventing distraction from the juicy chicken breast, which will surely suck in all your attention.
What I did not try and can’t forgive myself for it is the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which is pretty much a salad you can eat with your hands …Brilliant!! Toasted wrap, willed with peri peri chicken, crunchy croutons, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and sundried tomatoes all smothered in a creamy Caesar dressing. Oh my God!!
Lastly we were served mini portions of the existing desserts which gave the whole experience the perfect sweet ending. We had the Caramel Cheesecake, Chocolate Walnut Cake( my personal favorite), Chocolate cake and the Honey Biscuit Cake. A little chicken told me that they will soon be laying some new dessert eggs before we bid 2015 goodbye, Woohooooo !! Can’t wait.
