Spiceklub Dubai – Indian Molecular Gastronomy

Having heard so many raving reviews of Spiceklub & Quatrro in merely days after they opened, I finally had the chance to visit. Needless to say I went with a big appetite to try this new concept in my neighbourhood.

When asked which one would I’d like to try, my Indian palate made the obvious choice and I chose SpiceKlub ( on second thoughts I should have said both and spent the entire day there).

Stepping into Spiceklub immediately sets the mood. The quirky interiors are very tastefully done – not too much, not too casual, just the right kind of fun vibrant impression that’s heart warming. The staff members are endearing and chatty who love answering all your intriguing questions with a smile and truly enjoy their jobs of creating ( or deconstructing) beautiful food at your table.

So to rate it in one simple sentence  – everything we had was EXQUISITE! Twas a complete 10/10 in terms of:
Flavors
Portions
Prices
Table Dramatics
Presentation
Menu Variety

I don’t reckon you could go wrong with anything you order, so much so that I forgot it was all VEGETARIAN !

For starters we had :

Pav Bhaji Fondue  – this came with lightly toasted pieces of bread that you submerge in a hot bowl of bhaji. Never had it this way before but trust me there was something very therapeutic about the toasted bread drowning in the bhaji and you have a hot gooey cheesy bite on your fork to devour #NextLevelYum! Galauoti Kebab – I’d never imagined veg galaouti kebabs to be so delicious that I actually forgot they were vegetarian.

Pani Puri – As Indians; its established that the only way we’ll truly enjoy pani puri is when a bhaiyaji serves you and matches your pace, until you visit Spiceklub!! Children particularly will enjoy this as it looks like a dish just out of a chemistry lab, with the sweet chutney in a syringe and the pani in test tubes with lots of liquid nitrogen for effect, too pretty to eat! But don’t let all that fluff fool you into believing that it lacks the desi punch – the flavors are absolutely bang on. Watch the Boomerang here:  vimeo.com/237217837

Kesri Paneer Tikka  – Guess no desi appetizer course is complete without a paneer dish. This traditional paneer tikka comes in a very generous portion with all its expected softness and spices to satisfy your taste buds.

Our meal was accompanied with some beautiful quirky mocktails like the Coconut water with rose caviar ( more like coconut slush)  that quenched our thirst, played palate cleanser, was refreshing , was delicious and came in a super pretty bowl that I want to own.

We also tried mango on the rocks and Ice sphere – mocktails that are made at your table with plenty of molecular drama for your eyes.

At this point I also forgot that these were just starters!!

So to do justice to the desserts we ordered just one main amongst two of us. We had the garlic chili cheese naan with Tandoori Bhindi Shashlik which is cooked on skewers and loaded with delicious thick spicy gravy – ultimate comfort food !!

And now for the celebrity appearance i.e. the desserts!! I seriously can’t get over the creativity, its spectacular!

We were served old school lollies which YOU MAKE ( Yes You make!! ) at your table on a liquid nitrogen box. Followed by Paan mouse that’s just the perfect end to an amazing meal. Paan mouse placed on rose petals solidified using liquid nitrogen, beautiful light dessert and a mouth freshener in one.
